From NYC, With Love: How to Build a New York-Themed Gift Box with Levain

Quick Answer

For a true New York-themed gift, choose the Levain Cookie Tin Gift Set for its iconic blue tin featuring the West 74th Street bakery, or the Floral Cookie Tin Gift Set for a more personalized touch. Both let you pick the cookies, making them perfect for sending a taste of NYC to anyone, anywhere.

New York City has a flavor all its own, and for decades, Levain Bakery has been part of that taste. Since 1995, our founders Connie and Pam have been baking iconic cookies from the West 74th Street bakery, turning a local favorite into a worldwide craving. If you want to share that experience with someone who loves the city—or simply loves great cookies—a New York-themed gift box is the way to go.

But with several tins and bundles to choose from, how do you pick the right one? This guide breaks down the top options, what makes each special, and which fits different gift-giving moments. Whether it's for a former New Yorker, a future visitor, or someone who just appreciates a good cookie, you'll know exactly what to send.

Why a Levain Gift Box Says 'New York'

Levain Bakery isn't just a cookie company; it's a New York institution. The signature blue tin features the original West 74th Street bakery, a nod to where it all began. That imagery alone makes it a meaningful souvenir for anyone with a connection to the city.

When you send a Levain gift box, you're not just sending cookies—you're sending a piece of NYC history. The keepsake tins are designed to be held onto long after the last cookie is gone, making them a lasting reminder of the city and the thought behind the gift.

• Look for tins that feature NYC landmarks or the original bakery to maximize the New York feel.
• Pair the tin with a personal note about your favorite NYC memory for an extra touch.

Choosing the Right Tin: Classic vs. Floral

The Levain Cookie Tin Gift Set is the quintessential New York gift. Its classic blue hue and depiction of the West 74th Street bakery make it an instant connection to the city. You can choose 8 or 12 cookies, and the tin becomes a keepsake that outlasts the cookies themselves.

The Floral Cookie Tin Gift Set offers a different aesthetic—beautifully designed with a bouquet motif, it's perfect for birthdays, thank-yous, or just-because moments. While it doesn't feature NYC imagery, it still carries the Levain name and quality, making it a great choice for those who prefer a more decorative tin.

• If the NYC connection is key, choose the Classic Tin.
• If the recipient prefers florals or you want a more universal design, the Floral Tin is a lovely alternative.

Adding a Personal Touch with Bundles

For a more complete gift, consider a bundle that goes beyond cookies. The Cozy Home Gift Set pairs four cookies with an embroidered organic cotton kitchen towel and four hand-glazed cookie plates from the exclusive Levain for Crate & Barrel collection. It's an ideal housewarming gift for someone starting a new chapter.

For new parents, the New Parents Gift Set includes four cookies, a onesie (up to 12 months), and a choice of coffee or tea. It's a thoughtful way to say 'congratulations' and offer comfort during those sleepless nights. Both bundles add a practical, non-cookie element that makes the gift feel extra special.

• Choose the Cozy Home Gift Set for housewarmings or anyone who loves kitchenware.
• Choose the New Parents Gift Set for baby showers or new parents who need a little sweetness.

The Musical Birthday Surprise

If you're celebrating a birthday, the Birthday Musical Cookie Tin Gift Set is a fun and memorable choice. Packed with four cookies of your choice, the tin plays 'Happy Birthday' when you spin the base. It's a small touch that turns an already great gift into a moment of delight.

This tin is also a keepsake, so the birthday person can use it long after the cookies are gone. It's a great option for anyone who appreciates a bit of whimsy with their sweets.

• Great for milestone birthdays or anyone who loves a surprise.
• The musical feature adds an interactive element that makes the gift stand out.

Decision Rules for Picking the Perfect NYC Gift

• Recipient's connection to NYC: If they have a strong tie to the city—former resident, frequent visitor, or just a fan—choose the Levain Cookie Tin Gift Set with the West 74th Street bakery image. It's the most authentic New York keepsake. Choose the Classic Tin for the strongest NYC connection.
• Occasion: For birthdays, the Birthday Musical Cookie Tin Gift Set adds a fun, interactive surprise. For housewarmings, the Cozy Home Gift Set brings practical kitchen items. For new parents, the New Parents Gift Set offers comfort and a onesie. Match the set to the specific celebration for maximum impact.
• Personalization vs. Ready-Made: All the tins let you choose the cookie flavors, so you can personalize the contents. If you want a fully custom box, consider the Build Your Own option for even more control over the mix. Personalization is available across all sets; use it to tailor the gift.
• Keepsake value: All tins are designed to be kept, but the Classic Tin's NYC imagery makes it a stronger souvenir. The Floral Tin is also a lovely keepsake with a more universal appeal. Think about whether the tin itself will be displayed or used long-term.
